Job Purpose
Job Responsibilities
Utilize various tools including hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools and presses.
Interpret various inspection forms and documents, imperial and metric dimensions.
Read and operate various micrometers and other precision measuring instruments.
Identify and replace defective parts as needed.
Coordinate with Shop Supervisor to plan and complete general assignment.
Set-up welding equipment for a variety of welding operations, making adjustments to related positioners and fixtures as required, to work material.
Monitor quality of work throughout all stages of welding, making dimensional and visual checks and conducting non-destructive tests on items worked. Takes appropriate corrective action to correct faults in work.
Operate all electric-welding, acetylene-welding plasma and plate burning and blasting apparatus to perform complex welding on all types of parts, completed assemblies, piping and other items, including experimental and proto-type items, working on a broad range of corrosion resistant materials and to exacting tolerances to meet Code requirements of ASME, and Ruhrpumpen drawings.
Perform required burning, soldering, and silver brazing.
Maintain assigned equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Operate hand grinding and chipping equipment on parts, as required.
Operate overhead crane and other material moving equipment along with other power equipment used in the welding process.
Instructs and provides assistance to others as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Follow appropriate handling and disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with EPA Regulations. Knowledge of applicable Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
For protections of self and others, performs all work in accordance with established safety practices and facility rules.
